Absolutely Exceptional — A Must-Visit in CDMX! Contramar is, without a doubt, the best seafood restaurant I’ve ever been to. Every detail — from the food to the service to the atmosphere — was simply outstanding. The dishes were incredibly fresh and full of flavor, each one crafted with care and attention to detail. The staff was warm, professional, and made us feel genuinely welcomed, adding to the overall experience. The lively yet relaxed ambiance captures the essence of Mexico City perfectly — energetic, elegant, and full of life. Whether you’re a local or visiting, Contramar is a must-visit spot that sets the bar for what a truly great dining experience should be.

We had an incredible meal at Contramar today — truly one of those long, lazy Mexico City lunches that feels like a full experience. We ordered the holy trinity: the tostadas de atún, the pulpo a la gallega, and the pescado a la talla, and every single dish delivered. The tuna tostadas were bright, crisp, and silky — the kind of bite that makes you stop talking for a second. The pulpo was beautifully tender and smoky. And the pescado a la talla (we did 700g on our server’s recommendation) was the star: perfectly grilled, half red and half green, with enough depth and acidity to keep you chasing every last piece. The energy here is exactly what you want in Roma Norte — vibrant, buzzy, and effortlessly stylish. Perfect for sharing everything and lingering over food and conversation. Highly recommend.

I can understand why this place is always packed. Good fresh seafood and amazing service. We had seafood soup, tuna tostadas, octopus and potatoes and the half and half sauced dish. All were delicious. Would definetely go there again if I visit CDMX again.

Ordered 2 tuna uni toastada, ceviche, green clam soup, raw shrimps, hibiscus juice, sparkling water. Tuna uni toastada was very good. Tasted a bit like a Japanese food. Ceviche was our favourite, very fresh, they said the seafood arrived today. Green clam soup was also good but I tasted some dirt / grit, maybe the clams weren’t cleaned thoroughly. The raw shrimps were big but tasted just ok (this one we regret ordering it). Hibiscus juice was good, very refreshing. Staff were very friendly. It’s a bit noisy but you can still talk and has a good atmosphere. The total came to around mx $2200 for two people.

Decent seafood choices but does it worth waiting forever to get a reservation? Nope. A lot of local places make better aguachiles and tacos. That being said here are some dishes that are worth ordering here: pulpos a la gallega, tostada de atún, pescado a la talla (the green half is more tasty!), camarones al ajillo. For dessert the merengue con fresa was really good.

It’s worth the hype. This is my second visit and I was so pleased! Reservations online seem to open up 1 month in advance and we had Lady Luck on our side because we walked in right at noon and we were able to snag a table for 2 in full restaurant. Atmosphere is vibrant and servers were exceptional. Classic lunch order: ceviche contramar & pescado a la talla (1kg for 2 people). The ceviche was light and perfectly “cooked” and seasoned. The fish came with corn tortillas and black refried beans and the server prepared the first tacos for us. Drinks: Mescalita (hibiscus + mezcal + black salt rim) & Guava Margarita (perfection without being too sweet. The desserts looked amazing but we were too stuffed!

Most delicious, I spent my birthday there and the food was to die for, the “Pasta con almejas” was so good I couldn’t stop eating, but the star of the show was “Pescado a la Talla Contramar”. I loved the side with the red sauce, my wife loved the green one. Both were great but I liked the Red better. Definitely recommend this place a 10 out 10

After noticing that it’s impossible to secure a reservation during our time in Mexico City, we decided to walk in and wait. Although told it might take up to an hour to get a table, we were so lucky to be seated after less than few minutes. The food was just amazing. Everything done to the perfection. We loved the grilled Octopus and the seasoned grilled Cod was just perfect. We did not like the strawberry Meringue though, despite our waiter mentioning it as the most famous item on the dessert menu. Although I think it’s reasonable for a restaurant as famous (for a very good reason tbh) to add a well-deserved markup to their prices, I still think charging $1500 for a grilled Octopus is expensive for what is offered. It was also a bit unpleasant seeing the initial tip option being 15%.
